Rajbari Faridpur Integrated Community Development Project (RFICDP)
This Project works in Rajbari and Faridpur district the southern part of Bangladesh to reduce the vulnerability of children and women. Through reducing child abuse and exploitation, increasing their self-safety and hygiene practices, and integrating the most marginalized group in the social economic, and disaster capacity development process and to access better Govt. services.
Rajbari and Faridpur district is located disaster-prone area that has number of issues and challenges caused by disasters e.g. flood, water logging, and arsenic water poisoning brought on by climate change. The community used to suffer every year which led to unstable livelihood, loss in agriculture production, an increase in urban mitigation, and declining the firming community. Moreover, less opportunity for education and awareness made this community people more vulnerable and challenging due to their poor economic conditions, lack of knowledge on child rights and protection, health, environment, and available local resources.
The project has made significant strides in reducing child abuse and exploitation, particularly concerning child marriage and corporal punishment. Moreover, the project also has made a remarkable increase in women’s and children’s leadership and participation in different adult platforms that helped them to engage in the decision-making process. Remarkable progress also has been achieved in promoting self-safety and hygiene practices among the community members. Moreover, the project has been able to help the community to change their Behavior, Attitude, and Relationship. The project has demonstrated significant progress in socio-economic development providing vocational training and financial services provision for the community and parents, to be involved in Income income-generating activities for the safety and well-being of their children.
