Story of Krishna Halder (Person with Disability Children)
Krishna Halder is living with disability; he is around 12 years old. Krishna is the youngest boy child of his parents. Beside Krishna his one elder sister name Lotika and one elder brother name Milon is also living with disability. Presently Krishna, his brother and two sisters living with his parents in their village in Mollahat upazilla, under Bagerhat district of MCYCDP project area. Krishana is physically, impairer intelligence and mild vision impairment, his elder brother’s name Milon is physically disable and he uses a wheelchair to move another, and sister Lotika is also mild vision impairment, she doesn’t see at night. Krishana’s father is day labor, they have 50 decimal cultivation land. His mother is a housewife. Though they have poverty and vulnerability Krishana and his family are positive minded towards changing their life by keeping back their vulnerability. Krishna joined with the Baptist Aid BBCF- Mollahat Child, Youth & Community Development Project (MCYCDP) as child partner in July 2019 as well as he also joined MCYCDP project initiate Sapla child club in February 2020 in his village. Through this club he participates in Child rights, leadership management & report and regulation writing training. As well as he also participates in disability rights and health & hygienic awareness sessions. Krishna is a very vocal and active member and leads his club as a child protection committee member. His brother and immediate elder sister are a youth club member, as well as her mother is also a SHG member. Krishana said “before joining the child club, I was very angry, screaming and shouting; I didn't have any friends, I didn't like going to school because no one wanted to play with me, because of my disability and behavior, but now I have many friends, I play and enjoy with them very much and enjoying my school, my behavior has been changed”. He likes to play carrom board with his friends and play drums. He is very much aware to prevent corona virus infection. He said “I’m frequently washing my hand with soap, use face mask when I go out from my home”. Krishana also said “after completing my study I want to be a Bangladesh Border Guard (BDR) officer, and will make the society drug free by bringing them under law and punishing those involved in drug trafficking and selling”.
